The Peloponnesian Confederation is holding its second annual Greek-Peloponnesian Festival to provide you with the opportunity to experience the unique culture, flavours, sounds and traditions of the Peloponnese region of Greece.
Peloponnisos is the southern peninsula of Greece joined to the rest of the Greek mainland by the Isthmus of Corinth. The name is derived from Pelopos Nisos meaning the Island of Pelops, a legendary hero. In medieval times the area became known as "Moria" and it is still sometimes called by that name. This is where the name of our website ‘Morias’ is derived from.
The Festival is made possible through the cooperation of seven Federations and over thirty Associations that represent Greek-Australians whose heritage stems from one of the seven Prefectures of the Peloponnese region of Greece.
